Solastalgia Pangolin

Solastalgia Pangolin is a six-metre-tall sculptural structure with a bow-shaped body housing several rooms. Inside is a place to rest and read, with a small library relating how we can understand and care for the world around us. The artist duo Rören/Johannessen describes the work as a sort of field hospital for thoughts and feelings in a time marked by climate change and planetary anxiety. The protective shape may call to mind the pangolin – the scaled mammal that rolls itself into a ball when it is threatened. The shelter provides space for recovery, reflection and conversation. The sculpture functions as an open meeting place where visitors can imagine other ways of living together with each other and with the Earth.
