SIMKA

Three floating islands and buoys with living trees augment the mirrored surface of the Svartån River at the castle. Here floats an iceberg, a gigantic potato, the Isle of the Dead, and lush trees as well. Striking. Thought-provoking. The artist duo SIMKA – Simon Häggblom and Karin Lind – examine the Anthropocene, a proposed geological epoch that deals with how human activities have impacted the planet’s climate and ecosystems. In their development of the artworks, SIMKA engaged a group of people to test the subject. They now invite us to all be part of the dialogue about humankind’s place on Earth and in the universe. The interaction between the artwork and the observer is a hallmark trait of SIMKA.
