Bianca Hisse, 1994, Brasil, lives in Norway
Laura Cemin, 1992, Italy, lives in Finland
Spanning from installations to performances in public space, Hisse’s work delves into contemporary labor and embodied experiences of migration as intertwined forces, looking into how these mechanisms play a central role in the commodification of nature. Working with steel, cables, scaffolding and concrete, her artistic practice aims at unraveling the collective potential of bodies in public space, and to challenge the unspoken rules of a world based on a constant demand for high performance, speed, profit and progress.
Cemin’s artistic practice focuses on understanding movement in relation to language, on searching the poetics in our everyday gestures, on repetition, humor, and absurdity. Although her work always originates from a performative action, it can appear in multiple media and forms, such as live performances, text, photographs, and installations with objects. She is fascinated by the intersections and overlaps between language and movement and by how verbal language, with its metaphors and rhetoric, shapes the way we move and physically interact.
