Mander

A cube is placed on a street near a house wall. The cube is covered in a black and white pattern and illustrations of a figure and bacteria.

The large cube blocks the path. With swarming patterns, Mander – Martin Ander – challenges us to stop, study the subject and decipher the message. Mander creates imageries that become sinkholes for imagination and interpretation. Here we find grotesque figures, intricate contexts and breath-taking perspectives, in meticulously crafted compositions and irreverent typography – all with references in popular culture.

The artist himself has a background in graffiti, punk and skateboarding, and a great interest in comics, art and design. Mander’s art inspires exciting conversations between people of all ages. We can all, based on our own experiences, see and interpret something unique in this motley mix of images.

A close-up of the cube. The cube is covered in a black and white pattern and illustrations of a lifebuoy and a hand reaching up inside it.
