The application process to OpenART 2015 came to an end on December 15. All the submitted applications will soon be reviewed by a jury, who will decide on the 40 artists to exhibit at OpenART 2015.
Artistic quality, economic and practical feasibility, harmony with Örebro’s urban environment, interactivity and the surprise element are just some of the criteria that the jury will take into account, when they meet December 17 – 18 to review the applications.
The jury consists of Susanna Hesselberg, artist and curator, Kerstin Wagner, artist and curator and Christer Fällman, former Director of Linköping Art Gallery and a senior arts consultant.
– 420 artists from all over the world have sought to OpenART 2015. With each edition, the number grows, which indicates Open Art’s rising popularity both inside and outside Sweden, says Lars Jonnson, Director of OpenART.
50-60 artists will be exhibiting during OpenART 2015, of which 40 are selected from the digital applications, while the other artists are handpicked.
– Our goal is to show 100 temporary artworks for the city’s residents and visitors, says Elin Persson, Project Manager at OpenART.
The jury’s decision will be announced in February 2015.
OpenART is an art event organized in Örebro every two years. The main purpose is to give people the opportunity to encounter art in a different way, in the city center, shopping malls, display windows, facades, on the water, around the castle, in parks and other unexpected places in central Örebro.
The fifth edition of OpenART takes place June 14 – September 06, 2015.
